General
Do my VSE programs need to change?
No. GENIOS operates transparently. You enable it with a GENIOS-formatted DLBL in JCL for the files you choose.
Which communication methods are supported?
TCP/IP and Channel-to-Channel (CTC) via ESCON or parallel adapters.
What runs on the PC?
The PCGENI client receives/sends data and supports point-and-click file viewing.
Does GENIOS work with my scheduler and operations?
Yes. It’s activated per job/file by JCL and works with existing operational controls.
Security & Data Handling
How is security handled?
Transfers are controlled by the mainframe and communicate only with the GENIOS client on the PC.
Are data conversions supported?
Yes. Automatic ASCII ↔ EBCDIC conversion and printer forms control (CR/LF insertion).
What about compression and encryption?
Compression and encryption options are supported; reblocking and generation data sets are also available.
